Fellowships

A limited number of FEBS Youth Travel Funds (YTF) grants for PhD students and young researchers will be available covering travel and lodging expenses, as well as meals and registration fee. Whereas the registration fee covering living expenses will be sent directly to the workshop organizers, the travel award will be transferred to the YTF recipients, unless for foreign exchange reasons he/she requests it to be sent also to the workshop organizers. The amount of the travel award will be related to the distance from the applicant’s place of work to the venue of the workshop.

Applicants for YTF grants have to fulfill the following conditions:

  1. Applicants should:
    1. be registered as a student at an institution of higher learning in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society, OR be within five years of having completed a PhD Thesis
    2. be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society
    3. not have received a YTF grant to attend an Advanced Course/Workshop in the year 2010
  2. Awards will only be made to persons travelling from their current country of residence to another country.

Additional special transcontinental YTF grants (TransYTF) from regions outside the FEBS area will be offered and the applicants have to fulfill the following conditions:

  1. be a student at an institution of higher learning in a country where there is a IUBMB-related international society such as FASBMB (Africa) / ASBMB (North America) / PABMB (South America & Canada), FAOBMB (Asia), OR be within five years of having completed a PhD Thesis.
  2. be members of any IUBMB-related national or international societies mentioned under 1.

For PhD students from Spanish institutions, a number of grants from the Sociedad Española de Bioquímica y Biología Molecular (SEBBM) and from the Grupo Español de Resonancia Magnética Nuclear (GERMN) will be available covering partial expenses for the attendance at the workshop. In this case, applicants have to be members of the SEBBM  or the GERMN.

Applicants for YTF, TransYTF, SEBBM or GERMN grants have to send a short CV, including applicant’s research interests, in WORD or PDF format to the Workshop Secretariat (transient2010(at)ciccartuja(dot)es). TransYTF grant applicants are encouraged to send a letter of recommendation by the supervisor. It is also mandatory to send a proof of the FEBS Constituent Society or IUBMB-related Societies membership by e-mail in PDF format.
